Generator Sets

Keep your next project energized with gas-powered generator sets!

At Commander Combustion, our gas-operated generator sets provide longer runtime and have significantly fewer emissions than diesel generators. There is also virtually no maintenance required.

Gas-powered generators are becoming a popular fuel choice for off-site projects.

If you run an industrial facility, you know how important it is to have a backup on hand should you face a power outage.

A gas-powered generator is a worthwhile investment and they have many benefits to offer.

How Does a Gas-Powered Generator Work?

Gas-powered generators include many moving parts to produce electricity when you need to power your business and projects.

The main parts of a gas-powered generator are:

  • Fuel: Gas-powered generators require a fuel supply to operate, which can be acquired through an existing natural gas pipeline.

  • Combustion Chamber: The combustion chamber is an enclosed space within the engine that compresses a mixture of air and fuel that is then burned. This component houses the pistons, spark plugs, and crankshaft.

  • Stator and Rotor: These two parts work together to create the electrical current.

These parts work together to create and harness mechanical energy, i.e., electricity.

The process starts with injection, when the internal combustion engine injects air and fuel into the combustion chamber so that it can be compressed by the piston.

Then, ignition happens when the spark plug ignites the fuel with a small and powerful spark that causes an explosion that turns into mechanical energy.

All of this movement causes the crankshaft to turn, which then spins the rotor and causes electricity to move through the stator wires.

Benefits of Gas-Powered Generators

Investing in a gas-powered generator set means that you will have a machine on hand should something disrupt your power source.

Here are some other benefits of owning a gas-powered generator:

High Fuel Supply

Perhaps one the most notable benefits of gas-powered generators is the fact that you can connect to a natural gas pipeline, eliminating the need to repeatedly refill a fuel tank!

Low Cost

Compared to diesel generators, natural gas generators typically have lower upfront costs. The fuel also tends to cost less than diesel, meaning that long-term operating costs are lower as well.

Low Emissions

Natural is one of the cleanest burning fossil fuels, so it releases far fewer toxins into the environment than other types of generator fuel.

Low Noise

Gas-powered generators are quiet and produce less noise than diesel generators. This makes them ideal for housing them in generator rooms or in areas where there are noise bylaws.

Local Generator Sets for Sale

At Commander Combustion, we provide the following gas-operated generator sets to projects located in Western Canada and the USA:

  • 50 kW

  • 80kW

  • 130 kW

Efficiency is key when it comes to choosing the right size of your gas-powered generator!

Units that are too large can waste energy, while units that are too small can become overloaded.

You can count on Commander Combustion to help you choose the right-sized generator to meet your needs.
